Professional Development Workshop on School Inclusion (Bratislava – Slovakia) held on 5-7 October 2017
Ms Joanne Sultana and Ms Monica Barbara participated in a PD Workshop on School Inclusion. The aim of the seminar was to meet and collaborate with other educators from European Countries, learn about new methodologies and participate in eTwinning Collaborative Projects.
Bishop Mons Mario Grech donating catechism kits to help in teaching students with Autism
Bishop Mons Mario Grech visited Sannat Special Unit on the 31st of May 2017 and donated catechism kits which will be used to teach Autistic students the sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Communion and Confirmation. These catechism kits were financed by Dr Justyne Caruana Parliamentary Secretary for Rights of People with Disability and Active Ageing.
Reusing Buttons Art Project
Students at Sannat School were asked to rummage through their drawers at home to look for used buttons. Many students responded to this request and brought buttons of different sizes, styles and colours to school. Buttons were collected in the used buttons drop box outside the Assistant Heads’ office. These buttons are currently being used for the Reusing Buttons Art Project at Sannat Special Unit.
Focus Group Meeting and Inauguration of Life Skills Room
The second meeting of the Focus group ‘Dealing with Autism in Gozo’ was held on the 18th of May 2017 with the participation of professionals, parents and Hon. Dr Justyne Caruana Parliamentary Secretary for the Rights of Persons with Disability and Active Aging. The work done in Gozo in the past year and the way forward were discussed during this meeting. The meeting was followed by the inauguration of the Life Skills Room by Hon. Dr Justyne Caruana. This is another milestone in the work done in favour of students with Autism in Gozo. Life skills sessions are part of the curriculum followed by students who attend Sannat Special Unit. This room, in which students can practice life skills, was designed to resemble the home environment. This is one of the fruitful results of the Erasmus+ project Dealing with Autism in Gozo.
Information Session on Clicker 7 for parents of students using this software
During this session Clicker 7 licenses were distributed to parents so they can download software on home computers.
