Our school was unable to physically participate in this mobility so we participated virtually. Polish teachers sent us activities related to climate change, which students were doing during this week . These activities were carried out at our school in the Year 5 classes. They joined the classes in our Polish partner school online. It was a great experience for our students and they learned a lot about climate change.

Professional Development Day for Special Unit Educators
Special Unit Educators participated in a CoPE session on PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance). This was a follow-up of the Autism seminar held in June/July 2021 as part of the Erasmus+ project ‘Dealing with Autism in Gozo 2’
Welcoming the mascot from Germany
During the pandemic students were unable to travel and participate in the Erasmus+ project ‘Together for Earth’ mobilities. It was decided, that a mascot from each country, will travel to the other participating countries. The mascots will join the students in their school activities. The German mascot joined the Year 5 students in different activities the week 6th to 10th December 2021.
Erasmus+ Project ‘Europeans together for Earth’ virtual activities with our partners from Germany
Special Unit students and Year 3 students’ participation in protecting the water resources and in reducing the strain on the environment that leads to climate change. These activities were carried out in virtual collaboration with our partners from Germany during the week 29th November to 3rd December 2021. It was a great experience especially for our Special Unit students.
ERASMUS+ TRAINING IN ANTALYA TURKEY
Ms Georgianne & Ms Daniela attended Erasmus training with Cekdev International Education & Development Academy in Antalya Turkey. They had training about the Montessori and Reggio Emilia approaches. Both approaches focus on mind challenging and problem solving solutions, hands-on activities, artistic techniques, creativity and imagination.
Zabol the Frog visits us from Poland
Zabol is the mascot from Poland. It is one of the six mascots travelling from one country to the other as part of the Erasmus+ project ‘Europeans Together for Earth’. Zabol spent time with the Year 6 students at our school.
A VISIT BY PROF MILLS AT OUR SCHOOL
Members of our staff in the Special Unit attended a whole day seminar on Thursday 14th October, 2021. During this very informative seminar, Autism researchers and education specialists spoke about students on the Autism spectrum. Prof Richard Mills. a Consultant Associate for AT-Autism (London), a Research Director at Research Autism (London), and a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychology at the University of Bath was one of the speakers. It was an honour to welcome Prof Mills at our school, on Friday 15th October, 2021.
DEALING WITH AUTISM IN GOZO 2 – ONLINE TRAINING ON AUTISM
Twenty-five educators from Sannat Primary School and Special Unit took part in an intensive online course on Autism. It was delivered by Concept Training UK between the 30th June and 6th July. The course was part of the Erasmus + project Dealing with Autism in Gozo 2. The training included information and strategies on the following topics: Autism and Anxiety, Behaviour as Communication, Autism and Girls, Pathological Demand Avoidance, Rapport Based Musical Communication, Autism Self Harm and Self Injury and Sex and Relationship Education for pupils with Autism. #ErasmusPlus
